comment Do I need a transit visa for a trip from Sri Lanka to the British Virgin Islands via Doha, Amsterdam and Sint Marteen?
Also, your question talks about Paris, but your itinerary only mentions Amsterdam - which is it?

What's your nationality?

This might be better on the Expats.SE site, since it relates to living abroad for some time then trying to apply for official documents whilst abroad

What is your nationality? Also, please don't shout, it makes it very hard to read...

comment I have a Certificate of Entitlement of Abode in the UK endorsed in my SA passport. Do I need a Schengen visa to travel to Europe?
The French embassy to the UK has a page on if you need a visa, do any of the entries in the Holders of passports and other travel documents issued by the British authorities section apply to you?

Since you've said you're heading to Europe, unless you're flying into a tiny airport as your first stop, you won't have any issues finding an ATM to withdraw cash from in the airport before you first need any

comment Fastest way to obtain a China tourism visa in Hawaii?
I believe many nationalities can get them in Hong Kong, is there any chance you could fly to China via HK and get it before you travel onwards to your destination in China?

comment Getting from Kortrijk or Mouscron to Lille by public transport, after the last train
Looks like there's a 22:19 train from Kortrijk which arrives in Herseaux at 22:41, but it's still a 2.1km walk to the first bus stop on Liane 3 at Rue Vallon, Wattrelos. Better than the 4km walk Mouscron to Tourcoing though!

This article from January suggests using the Citibank Plus Visa debit card, have you looked to see if that is still good + if you can get one?

comment Traveling from San Francisco to Bombay via London, on an older US Green Card
When you say that other airlines didn't have a problem with this, were those airlines which had you transiting somewhere other than Heathrow? Only the rules for who does/doesn't need transit visas vary based on the country you're transiting in, so just because you're valid to TWOV in country A doesn't automatically mean you're valid for country B

Will you be booking onto airlines in the same alliance, and ideally airlines in the same alliance who offer codeshares, or would it just be two random different airlines?

comment Cellphone carriers in Europe
@Relaxed She's asking how roaming in Europe works, which most people living in Europe vaguely know due to all the recent press about the recent price drops on European roaming. I can see how a slightly differently worded version would be on topic here, so maybe this one should just be edited

@Relaxed Visiting France for a short while = fully on topic here. However, the question (as written) is about moving to France full time, and wondering about long term mobile contracts, and hence might (though only might) be better for Expats.SE. Well, either that, or perhaps the version here might want wording tweaks to distinguish it if not

Depends on your mobile provider - some mobile plans (eg 3) have free roaming to certain EU countries (+others), while others offer free roaming to all of the EU on their more expensive plans, and yet others offer "free" roaming for a daily fee. Depends a huge amount on who you're with
