Is your middle name shown on your passport / other government ID you'd use to travel with?

Do you have status with any of the airlines you're travelling with? How about a priority pass / lounge angel card?

comment Can I collect post at / near Heathrow airport (on a Saturday)?
Exactly! An hour's inconvenience is fine for me, and fine for a hypothetical future visitor without a handy friend/colleague to do a drop-off. Several hours is out for me, and wouldn't be available for many people in transit via Heathrow

At 1.5 hours each way (30 minutes into London, 30 minutes to cross London, 30 minutes out to Heathrow), plus waiting time, it's a non-trivial favour to owe someone for giving up that much of their Saturday + spending that much on public transport!

comment Is an Oyster card worth it for 3 days?
Oyster only supports daily price capping. Contactless supports daily and weekly price capping, which has caused some controversy as it means that it is in some cases cheaper than oyster, which was always promised to be the cheapest

comment Getting from Heathrow to Balham with heavy luggage (mid morning sunday 14 December)
The TFL Step-Free Tube Map and Guide could be handy here, that'll let you easily see where you can change / leave with suitcases with no effort. Tube to Brixton then bus/uber/taxi looks a good option to me from that

Sadly if I have to pay for a 20 minute taxi ride both ways, it'd be cheaper to just have the documents posted internationally!

However, someone with an appropriate contactless debit / credit card is potentially better off not getting an Oyster card, as they'd save the hassle of queueing up to get one + hassle of getting the fiver refunded. Contactless cards are always the same price or cheaper than Oyster for someone with no railcards / discounts (Contactless have weekly capping, Oyster doesn't)

comment Transfer time San Francisco coming from Canada onward to Maui
Are you sure that all Canada -> US flights have pre-clearance? I know that all the major Canadian airports do it at normal times of the day. Some reference confirming if all do it at all times of the day or not would be good!

Do you have a contactless bank card / credit card? TFL have very recently enabled the use of contactless cards at oyster rates
