Does that apply for arrivals within the CTA (Common Travel Area between the UK and RoI) though?

Ring one airline in the alliance who'll you'll be using? Or speak with a real-life Travel Agent?

comment What is the closest city I can go from a bullet train departing from Beijing?
If you're interested in "fast trains", there's something to be said for taking a conventional High Speed one to Shanghai, then the short but super quick ride on the Shanghai Maglev Train!

comment Is there a legal limit to the amount of cash one can carry on domestic flights
@Saren Based on this CBC article, it's apparently entirely legal, but the ethics of it is very much up for debate, especially by those affected by it from north of the border...

comment Stop over in London
@AffableGeek The only way airside for non-staff at Heathrow is with a ticket. However, you can sometimes get a very cheap one-way ticket, and once you're airside you can then go to customer services + say you've decided not to travel + be escorted landside again, so their daughter could always do that (for a potentially small-ish cost) to join them airside

Would you not be worth taking out additional insurance yourself, to cover you for the excess no matter who you rent from?

comment Why does EasyJet require my ID details in advance?
@DCTLib Eurostar staff don't see your passport, and don't ask for it when booking. Heading from Europe to the UK, your passport is checked by French or Belgian immigration officers (Schengen exit) then immediately by British ones (UK juxtaposed entry), but never Eurostar

comment Can you get from London to the French Alps by train, with no/minimal changes?
@JoeBlow The Ski Eurostar is a single direct train from London to the French alps - you board in London, and stay on board all the way to Bourg / Aime / Moutiers, very civilised! The Swiss option is a change of trains in Lille Europe, often just cross-platform

comment On TGV (or other French long-distance trains), can you take the earlier/later train?
Why did you miss you train? If you missed the train due to other train related delays, then you're allowed to take a later train than booked no matter the ticket conditions

@JoeBlow The Swiss services are Eurostar London to Lille, then TGV Lyria from Lille via CDG and the LGV Interconnexion to avoid Paris
