What do you mean by "official purpose"? On behalf of your Government?

comment Is it possible to sit at a seat of higher class, for free, after boarding a flight?
I believe the term commonly used is "Self Upgraders", and they are normally spotted and ejected back to their normal seats...

I can only suggest that you find yourself a good travel agent, then spend some time working out + booking a trip with them!

Did you try at any local banks or currency exchange places already? What did they say?

I'd hazard a guess that there's at least half a dozen suitable providers, assuming you buy on or just after arrival. What have you looked into so far?

Assuming the flight isn't late that is!

comment I'm travelling from Heathrow to Toledo in the USA with 2 connections, will I need to see to my luggage before I get to Toledo?
It's only offered for bags, not for people, and only at Miami apparently. You'd still need to clear immigration, then customs with your carry on luggage, then re-clear security to enter the departures area for the onward international flight. However, at Miami, if done right, your bags can do Intl-Intl transfers without collecting and drop off, see here for some details

comment Flying from US. Do I need to recheck my bags at Heathrow for a UK domestic flight?
It's handy though, as you don't have to collect your bags / clear customs / re-check them, as places like the US tediously make you...

@Karlson Not here you wouldn't, on one ticket your bags are checked through, and you clear customs on arrival in Scotland (your bag tags are colour coded to indicate you need to do that). Unlike the American system, where you do everything on first port of arrival, here (for a through ticket) you'd clear immigration at Heathrow, but customs at the final spot. (If flying USA -> Schengen -> UK, as an example, you'd clear both together in the UK, as the UK isn't Schengen)

Exactly how heavy will your luggage be? And can you perhaps split it into several bags to avoid the overweight fee?

comment Heathrow Overnight Layover - claim and recheck luggage? go through immigration?
BA should be fine to check it through for you, as it's all one ticket and the layover is under a day. Whether you want them to is a different matter - depends if you'll want things from your bags on the layover!

I'm fairly sure you won't be flying with Cathay between Stockholm and London, most likely it'll be BA. Can you check?

@Alex If it's one itinerary, and the airlines have interlining (eg are in the same alliance), then that'll be largely the same as if it were all one ticket. If they're totally different (eg BA onto Virgin) then that changes things
