revised Late evening public transport in Nice
It's two questions: made that more apparent. Removed bolding from Paris, as it's not at all important.

comment What is the oldest train in the UK still operated regularly for a non-tourism purpose?
@gmauch. Makes sense to me. If you're interested in trains (many people are!) and want a "real" experience, you want to know which old trains are running standard scheduled services, not tourist trails.

Hang on. You're a passenger on a flight without passengers? How does that work?

comment What's the safest way to protect your valuable belongings from theft at the beach?
Also suitable at Fermoyle on the Dingle Peninsula, @Calchas. In that case because your nearest neighbour is probably roughly a mile down the strand.

comment What metric to imperial conversions should I know for traveling to the US?
@Dan. Well, 12-hr clock for timetables is weird, to my mind, but using just a and p, notations which as far as I'm aware are used nowhere else in the world, in an international airport, is just stupid. It took me a while to work out that those were actually supposed to be times. At least am and pm are meaningful, even if they are odd.

Although I'm Irish, and used to a 12-hour clock, I still find it jarring when used in a public transport timetable. Combine that with the a/p notation (rather than am/pm), and you can see why I spent some time in JFK being very confused. The fact that Americans use their parochial measures and notation even in international airport hubs demonstrates either their arrogance or their ignorance, I'm not sure which.
