comment Extending Oyster card trip outside the Oyster card validity zones with valid ticket outside zones and without changing trains?
I'm confused — how can you travel from London if your ticket is only valid from the last Oyster stop (which is presumably at the outskirts of London)?

comment Using passport of country of nationality after being granted refugee status
Indeed, as @Tom says, people might flee war rather than their own government. Also, even if someone fears arrest and torture from country X, that doesn't mean that there is a direct threat from country X embassy in country Y, depending on how powerful the secret service for country X is. I doubt they have torture chambers at the embassy.

comment Why is self-catered accommodation in the United Kingdom apparently only per week?
@JonathanReez Not fond of Airbnb but I gave it a look. Looks like they do list self-catering accommodation priced per night (albeit at far higher prices such that for a 3 or 4 night stay, paying a full week would be cheaper), but it has no listings for Jura, Scotland and just 6 on Islay (whereas the tourist office has 23 for Jura and >150 for Islay, respectively; I did try a low-season far away date so it's not due to being fully booked).

comment Being late to a train (UK) because of overground/underground cancellation?
I've missed Advance trains for a variety of reasons and in every case, staff have been friendly and permitted me to travel, even when de jure I should have bought a new ticket. It helps if your second train is as off-peak as the first train and operated by the same company.

Will you be staying at any hotel en-route? Hotels are usually fine with storing your luggage.

comment Why is self-catered accommodation in the United Kingdom apparently only per week?
@HenningMakholm I tried 23 cottages listed on the Isle of Jura, and 21 of those were weekly only. On the Isles of Scilly, I tried a dozen or so, and only one was willing to accommodate for a long weekend, but not really because they were charging as if it was a week. I've never tried to book self-catering accommodation in a city (cities have plenty of restaurants, so I see no need), so I wouldn't know about London.
