comment Why are there no courier services or box-rentals near airport security?
My wife ribs me that I have a $200 knife that I could buy for $35. It is slightly more valuable than the price the in-airport service charges, so I mail it home when I forget. Then again....

"If you have sufficient time" is an important qualifier. You are trading the value to you of the object against the chance of missing the flight, which clearly changes a lot depending on how much time you have. The services in the airport recognize this and price their services very high accordingly.

comment How widely accepted are Euros in Hungary and how bad is the exchange rate practiced by shops/hotels?
This is a very general answer to the question. You want to pay for things in the local currency. Any merchant who accepts some other currency is doing you a favor, and probably charging you for the favor. DONE If it is not expensive, you may be (and maybe should be) willing to pay for the favor.

comment What's the safest way to protect your valuable belongings from theft at the beach?
The watersports people has shown that the only dry containers that really stay dry have an o-ring in a hard plastic opening. This one looks like it has that. Fold over and ziploc bags often let a little water in. I have one made of flexible plastic sized for my phone that has a hard plastic and o-ring top.
