comment Can I stop a fellow passenger from using their cell phone during take off?
This seems like a hybrid of two questions: (1) what, if anything, should be done to ensure your own safety when another passenger is using their phone, and (2) if you assume that something does need to be done about the other passenger's phone use, what can you as a passenger do about it? The title describes #2 only, but the body seems to be more about #1, as is the existing answer. Perhaps it would be better to change the title accordingly? (I'd edit but I'm not sure if this would be considered too drastic)

comment What is the arrival process in international air travel?
I agree with @Joe; I was particularly unsure about the customs process the first few times. I think it would help a lot to emphasize that it is the traveler's responsibility to know whether they have anything to declare. There may be signs at the airport giving some examples of items that must be declared, but not a comprehensive list. (It's also probably worth mentioning that the vast majority of travelers don't have anything they need to declare.) Other than customs, like you said, it's hard to go wrong if you follow the signs.

comment Recommended VPN in China
I wonder how recently the people saying personal VPNs work have tried it? I did the same thing myself earlier this year, setting up a personal VPN network with multiple servers and traffic obfuscation, and it was blocked and my servers blacklisted within a week or so. From what I've heard and experienced, China uses deep packet inspection and traffic analysis to identify any method people are using to bypass content filtering, and the only effective way around it is to rotate through a very large network of generic-looking servers ("large" = hundreds or thousands).

comment Not getting passport stamped when entering USA from abroad
I'm a US citizen and I've had my passport stamped every time I reenter the country. Most recently last December. If things have changed, I guess it must be since then.

comment Is Indian food easily available in European countries?
Subway is a fine vegetarian option, but it's very different from Indian food. So it seems kind of out of place in your answer.

comment Curfew - Is walking on the street in Tokyo legal after 11.00 pm if you're under 18?
Huh, okay. I don't know Japanese so all I have to go on is your translation in the answer, but the way you translated it made it sound as though a guardian should keep their young child(ren) at home between 11 and 4 whether they are accompanied or not.

Wouldn't section 1 prohibit a parent (or guardian) from walking around with a <16-year-old after 11 PM?

comment Can I attend a conference on a tourist visa in Vietnam?
Good information, thanks :-) As a matter of fact, the VSG discussion links to this page from the Vietnamese embassy in Washington which gives precisely the kind of warning you mentioned.

comment If I know a flight is delayed can I turn up late for check-in at the airport?
I've had it happen to me twice recently that the departure time was delayed for multiple hours and then subsequently reset back to the original time.

comment Washington, D.C., or just Washington?
Well, I'd imagine booking a plane ticket from elsewhere in the US you could say "DC" and people would know what you meant. Definitely in the northeast US at least.

comment Road Conditions on drive from Washington, DC to Quebec City over Christmas
As a native of New York I agree with all of this, except The Weather Channel recommendation. Of course access to a good forecast is tremendously helpful, I just don't think TWC is the best place to get it, in part because they package their reports in sensationalistic "dressing". I usually go to the National Weather Service for this info, or on a cell phone there are a variety of good apps.

comment What are the potential hazards of my passport or visa number being made public?
@NateEldredge perhaps so (I didn't find that question while searching), although I am specifically asking about just number itself, not a copy of the passport. No birthday, no home address, no full name, etc.
