comment Prepaid mobile sim that will work for Paris and London
@qwertynl if you are usage is more of international calling, try Lebara or Lyca mobile. They are cheaper for international calling. And they have presence in both the UK & France and SIM cards can be bought over the counter.

comment Schengen visa in almost full passport
With the introduction of PSK (Passport Seva Kendra), renewing a passport is much easier now. I got mine in less than 20 days - about 5 months ago (Normal services). One can get it renewed within a week on Tatkal services.

comment Can I take both a laptop and a tablet in my carry-on bag when going to India?
It was 25K and now increased to INR 35K. And for watches, I've seen people carrying 10-15 watches with them and not stopped by customs. The trick is to pack them in separately in different bags.

I use a SIM cutter instead of worrying/searching for micro SIM (uk-mobilestore.co.uk/product_images/w/791/…). Using that way for the last 3 months now.. :)

I beg to differ here. IRCTC is not a private company but subsidiary of Indian Railways, which is a state owned railway company!

Keep Scotland as last option. Spring this year has not been a good one. Lots of rain and there was even a snow shower couple of weeks ago. :)

comment Getting a SIM card (prepay) in India
These checks are there since the beginning. I got my first SIM way back in 2002 and I remember waiting for 2 days to get my SIM activated after giving all the documents.

On a side note, one need to report to the customs at the Canadian border if carrying amounts of CAN$10,000 or more - be it in coins, domestic or foreign bank notes.
