Food for thought, There are two main train routes from London to tha North. East Coast main line en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Coast_Main_Line and West coast main line en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Coast_Main_Line. East coast for me, York, Scarborough and Northumberland.

comment Is riding a bicycle in the parks of Glasgow allowed?
Bike use isn't forbidden in London parks. There are bike routes (around or through) at least Hyde and Regents park. Certain pedestrian routes are off limits.

You'd probably do well to see what the local CAMRA (Camaign for real Ale) recommend: http://www.camralondon.org.uk/

comment How to get from Gatwick airport to Paddington?
how much luggage will you have? Navigating a central london tube with lots of luggage is a fools errand. Gawd knows how many times ive seen people do it at rush hour.WHY?. Get the 1st part for certain, the Gatwick express but get in big black cab for the second part, no stress. Are you catching at a train from Paddington (why else would you go there?) If you are then where as the advice would be different as you could catch airport buses/trains further west.

Paddington basin is quite nice, just make the right turn out of Paddington Station and avoid the Edgeware Road.

comment To which country in Europe should I travel to if I want to see a lot of lighthouses?
Should you not be asking, where are the most spectacular lighthouses that you can visit? Also there a number of lighthouses you can actually stay in, at least i know its possible with the landmark trust in the uk and ireland.
