comment What is the cheapest way to get from EU to India?
I think that this question cannot be answered completely i.e. final answer cannot be given because the prices change almost on daily basis.

Also, it depends too much on when a person is traveling. You didn't say what season, what month, even what year. Regular flights don't have the same prices during the year and mostly depend on a date of travel, how many tickets was sold and whether you want a direct or connecting flight. Just FYI, I found a return flight a couple of days ago from Croatia to Delhi via Moscow for $560 (note it's dollars, not euros). This means that the prices from Western Europe can only be lower...

Is it a private insurance or the one you can add to your flight? By private I'm thinking about a legitimate insurance company...

Completely safe... You have to try this meat dish if you decide to go there. They're especially good in Sarajevo.

comment How to insure professional equipment while traveling
It will always be "ridiculously expensive" to insure your "ridiculously expensive" electronic gear. No matter what company you use, you will never be able to get travel insurance that covers a full value. £1500 is actually not that expensive when it comes to photo equipment and if you want, you can probably insure your body and your lens separately.
