comment Is there an IATA airport code that is unassigned and that can be used for “any airport”?
The codes are all arbitrary, and whatever committee at IATA is in charge of assigning them does not appear to have designated any particular code as permanently reserved for examples or testing. Given the engineering challenges involved in allowing numerals, it's unlikely we'll see alphanumeric codes in the forseeable future, so your safest bet may be to use something with a numeral (X0X?) or other characters as MarkMayo has suggested.

comment Essential Things To Do in London
You should consult a proper travel guide, then come here to hone suggestions, rather than attempt to use this site to generate them. The SE format is not really suited to open-ended lists, especially when you haven't provided the slightest inkling of your interests or sightseeing preferences. One person might spend all day at the Heathrow observation deck, another in a single garden at Kew, a third running form show to show in the West End.

You will not get a "good understanding" of the issues just by dropping in for a few days and having a cuppa with desperate people— who by the way, are not interchangeable with one another. Rethink this entire adventure, starting with your assumptions that your personal contact will prove enlightening about a variegated international phenomenon of which countless stories have already been written in the international press.

@CPU100 It's very difficult to assess over satisfaction with any big organization: they employ a mix of people, have policies or products beloved by some and despised by others, and generate experiences that depend a lot on circumstances and what you want or need from them at a particular time (e.g. "Loved the dental coverage, hated the approved pancreatic cancer medications..."). The "bad" company may be the "best" for you sometimes: I just had to hold my nose and open a Comcast account for my company, because despite CMCSA's horrible reputation, the competition couldn't compete.

Welcome to TSE. StackExchange isn't a good place for initial research, but rather to hone your plans. I would start with WikiTravel, then guidebooks that cater to the kinds of activities you are interested in (e.g. if your main interest is scuba diving, there's little reason to go to Chiang Rai), or try discussion forums like Thorntree, TripAdvisor, FlyerTalk, and so on. I recommend you review the site tour and help center for additional guidance.
