comment Affordable stay options in / near SF in September 2015
@kouton It is simply not reasonable to compare Las Vegas to any other major US city. It is a resort destination full of vast and competing hotels whose rates are massively subsidized by casinos. On weekdays for msot of the year, most of those hotels are practically empty, too, a reverse of the situation with most large cities.

You are visiting one of the most expensive areas in the United States; $200/night for a business class hotel hardly seems unreasonable to me. I don't know what you are basing your expectations on; it's still cheaper than Manhattan.

Welcome to Travel.SE. Please note that this is a Q&A site, not a discussion forum, and our format is not well-suited to questions which are open-ended or opinion-based. Once you have done some research on your own, we may be able to answer specific questions you have, however. I encourage you to take the site tour and review the help center for some guidance on how StackExchange operates.

comment Are there any statistics on the dates that people buy plane tickets?
If you're trying to determine your chances of clearing standby, you need to look at the full picture for a route, not a single metric for a whole country. For instance, at any time of year, I venture that a lot more people buy last-minute tickets on Delta for LGA-DCA than LGA-BUF— but there are also a lot more available seats on LGA-DCA than LGA-BUF, and so less competition, especially since LGA-BUF are express flights that are more at risk for cancellation than mainline flights.

Similar: Am I going to have trouble flying with a reversed name on the ticket?; My last name is not the same on ticket as on passport; Can I travel within US if name on ticket is abbreviated?; and Middle name missing on flight reservation, API needs middle name

comment Does New York Pass entitle you to visit Ellis Island from NJ?
Hmm, good question. The website of Statue Cruises (the official ferry concessionaire) doesn't specify one way or the other as to where you can start the trip, though it seems to be no trouble at all to start from one point but return to the other.

Welcome to Travel.SE. This might be the first question asked by an Iraqi national, and so I extend a special welcome. This question has already been asked and answered, however, at the provided link, with good advice from Gayot Flow.

Thanks. The operating carrier is presumably Qantas.
