What's the best way to pay tolls on a cross-country road trip in the US? +1 esp. for the useful GSA link. FWIW however, MnPASS is only required if you want to use the "Express Lanes" on certain highways; the regular lanes remain toll-free. Similarly, the only mandatory toll facilities in Washington are the Route 520 Bridge and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge; no need for a Good to Go if you won't be taking them. |

But a lot of people think there is a binary distinction between GSM-descended and CDMA-descended networks and phones, when in fact the situation is more complex. |

There are various gradations of "Worldmode" phones as Sprint calls them that are capable of 850/900/1800/1900 GSM and 2100 UMTS, even if they default to 850/1900 CDMA in North America. The iPhone 4S among them. |

What “undocumented” benefits are there to being an “elite” frequent flyer? I have to vote to close as well, since by definition, the answers are going to be unverifiable and anecdotal. Things like preferred seating and upgrades are very much published benefits. What you ultimately gain is some extra consideration for "waivers and favors" to use Delta's parlance— a slightly better chance that an agent will bend the rules when you ask them. And that is only true for some airlines; I've found most European airlines, for example, to be very much "by the book" on things like flight changes. |

How to travel from/to Washington Dulles and Annapolis? Congratulations on your adventure. Note that you aren't limited to the cost of your trip when purchasing a WMATA Metro farecard; you can add the round trip value (or more) and save yourself a stop at the farecard machine on your return. But even better, if you buy a $5 SmarTrip card and register it online, Metro will give you a $3 rebate five days afte registration, so your investment in the card will pay off with a single round trip. |

Best things to do while in Pittsburgh - Food, historical sites, generally time well spent? @Simon London, as a major metropolis, is not a fair comparison to Pittsburgh. But suppose instead you were in Gloucester or Bristol for a meeting. Would it make any sense to advise someone to get "authentic" stottie cake with pease pudding? Pittsburgh arguably has more in common with Cleveland, and Philadelphia with Baltimore, than they do with each other. |
