comment What visas do I need for traveling to South East Asia if I'm a Canadian Citizen?
The 90/180 day limit was scrapped a few years back (due to being too difficult to enforce). Instead, they only give a 15 day stamp when arriving by ground crossing (without a visa).

comment Can you receive an Australian passport stamp if you ask?
It's worth mentioning that while visas used to be stamps, most countries switched to visa stickers over a decade ago (more difficult to counterfeit).

comment How can I transfer money to Thailand?
@Zombies ACH is US only. However... there is one Bangkok Bank branch in NYC, so if you have an account there, you could probably do an ACH and then their internal transfer to Thailand. Seems complicated to set up, I haven't actually tried it (and don't know how expensive/lengthy it is).

comment Are there hotels where children are not allowed?
@Andrew Despite the name, "love hotels" are not only used for sex, there are many other under-24h-stay uses.

comment What to do if drugs / a bomb are planted in your travel bag?
@Kate While getting assaulted by the bad guys waiting to receive their package is a possibility, that's a secondary concern, and should be handled by getting the next flight out... to anywhere. Police just won't help you in some countries, they care to either extort money or do an easy arrest to boost statistics... even if the police/judicial system makes is fair, convincing people of your innocence would be a long and difficult task with uncertain outcome.

comment When does the 24 hour layover rule apply?
All depends on the specific airline policy. Even if you stay under the 24h limit, the airline can price various flights differently, so there's no guarantee of a lower price. On the other hand, some airlines have free stopovers (e.g. Turkish allows up to a week in Istanbul). Booking stopovers online can be tricky, contacting the airline (or using an old-fashioned travel agent) is usually the best way.

comment Key vs. combo lock security for international travel
Breaking a small lock takes far less time than trying out 500 number combinations (average for a 3-digit lock). Slicing open the bag takes even less time. Thieves don't have to play nice, and a lock is (a) a minor obstacle/deterrent and (b) a sign that something worth stealing could be inside, so you need to balance the two.

comment How to find a sauna/bathhouse in Korea that allows customers with tattoos?
The tattoo rule is mostly to exclude members of organized crime (e.g. Yakuza in Japan). If you're not Asian and a tourist, I doubt a tattoo would be a problem, since you're obviously not a Korean/Japanese gang member (as long as they accept tourists which is a different question). Asians can be quite pragmatic about rules (e.g. in Japan you can often get into Japanese-only places if you're with a Japanese friend).

comment Is it possible to travel and live in Berlin for three months with 1500 EUR?
Quite optimistic. Germany on 8 euro/day (after accommodation) is perhaps survivable (as in, you could get enough calories not to starve if you're careful enough with food) but nowhere close to livable.

comment Are there any inhabited condominiums (joint sovereignties) apart from Brčko District?
Is Brčko truly a condominium? Federation of BH and Republika Srpska are not sovereign nations, but federal units of Bosnia. In theory, Brčko is part of both, but in practice it has it's own assembly and local government, so it's more akin to Washington DC or Ciudad Mexico: an independent city exempt from jurisdiction of federal units.

comment Using U.S. ATM cards in Malaysia
The rumor I heard is that Malaysian banks were blocking U.S. ATM withdrawals (U.S. banks were not the ones doing the blocking).
