Affable Geek: Can you please tell me which flight service you used to get to Lulka and which tour operator, to do the Jomsom trek?

comment Getting from Mumbai to Hospet
Riesko, you have to look for bus services running between Mumbai and Bangalore. I guess, there are a couple of good ones, in which you can probably sleep and relax. Almost all of these bus services run through Hubli.

comment Driving in Iceland: a good idea?
NOTE: I'm not that sure of driving conditions in winter (specially the less-used roads).

comment Driving in Iceland: a good idea?
Ivan, I said so because when I was there, I saw some exotic and calm places, where I thought I would just stay around for a couple of days, relax and hike around. For example, When I was at a lake in Pingvellir National Park (which is on North American tectonic plate), I saw some houses around the lake and thought I would just relax and hike/camp around. Also, there are lot of isolated & far-flung houses in Iceland (you can rent some of 'em). As for visiting interesting locations with a normal car, you can cover most of 'em, apart from some parts of central Iceland and Glacier/Volcano trips.

comment When and where do I have the highest chance of seeing auroras?
Also, I recently came across this article on BBC about some guy and his company: Aurora Hunters, who help you in chasing Aurora Borealis.

Mark, it's anecdotal. When I did that volunteering project, I interacted with good number of Icelandic people and a few volunteers who were based at Westfjords, who told me that there's a high chance of seeing Aurora Borealis, at Westfjords. Also, Iceland is latitudinally more closer to the North Pole, than Finland or Sweden or Most parts of Norway (South).

comment Can I make reservations for trains in Italy, France and Belgium from the Bahn ticket desks in Germany?
True that, Gilles. When I said "In most of the cases", I was talking about booking at the Bahn ticket desks.
