comment What sort of computer / electronic device would you take on a backpack trip around Europe to allow you to keep in touch?
I'm also very 'weight conscious' but I couldn't stay without a 11 inches laptop because I need a PC to work. The idea of carrying just a USB hard drive with a virtual machine is very attractive... but I still have some doubts about it. How do you work? Just connect the HD to the hostel PC? The hostel owners allow that? And, may be the most important, do you have a regular job? Because I have my own business and maybe I have to work 2 or 3 days at month, but some times I have a bug to solve and I have to work one week 12 hours a day... Thanks for your advices :)

comment What's the cheapest stable route to cross the Pacific?
@AdrienBe I've do some research and the cheapest prices I find for Bangkok are around $350 (BKK-LAX) and fly to BKK from Australia is not very expensive. The curious part of this is that this is that these BKK-LAX are not crossing the Pacific, they go to Europe and from there to LAX :-O But that's a good answer if you want to write it ;)

@NateEldredge the stability is a requirement because the date is unknow due I'm asking to have an idea about how to cross the Pacific Ocean the day I arrive to Australia and have to cross it in my around-the-world trip. Anyway the "stable" price, has its limits, of course, I cannot pretend to buy a ticket for tomorrow in high season and pay the same than for a ticket 3 month in advance and low season. The "stable" should be understand as a goal, not as a strict rule.

Well, I'm not looking for a ship only, a flight is ok. The question is: which is the cheapest way to cross the Pacific flying or by sea?

If it's cheaper I have no problem to stop, but it's not necessary. To clarify, I'm looking for a reliable and cheap way to cross from Oceania or south of SEA to anywhere in the american continent (north or south). No problem if this imply a lot of stopovers or I have to take a ship + some flight.

That's why I specified "stable" route: no big changes on different year dates

comment Why ITA Matrix is failing so much last months?
I find your answer really interesting and rich. Exactly, ITA is right the 95% of times, is the other 5% the problem :) Of course I write as a sales city Madrid because I'm there :) and the travel agents that I contacted are reliable and I'm sure they use the same booking codes that ITA give. So, given all this, the only explanation that IMHO is admissible is that ITA uses some kind of cache. Until now I believed that ITA didn't use cache, and this makes me reconsider how I use ITA and his reliability. Thanks.

comment Jeddah - Costa Rica then return via Costa Rica - Madrid - Jeddah, will I need a visa for Spain?
It's good to know that @Calchas. Except USA ESTA, I've never need to obtain a VISA or similar to transit in any country. I'll try to get more info about this in my next trips.

If you don't leave the airport international zone you don't need any VISA... except in USA, but that's not your case

comment Are Turkey Black Sea beaches suitable for bathing in summer?
To answer both of you at once, I'd like to visit the Black Sea coast, but my partner prefers to stay in beaches. So the idea is to be sure that she's going to have some relax time in beaches. If not, we will choose another destination.

comment What is the cheapest way to get from Tocumen airport to Albrook bus station?
The Spanish version of the Tocumen airport webpage mentions buses (tocumenpanama.aero/…). I've read that you can take a bus outside the airport, but it takes you to the city center, not explains the best way to go to other places.

comment Best way to split costs during travelling
Yes, you have to remember to write a number for each time someone pay something. This can be tedious. What I do often is keep the tickets (taxi, hotel, etc) in a safe place (zip closed pocket, wallet, etc). At the end of the day, you just have to take the tickets and write the amounts in the notebook. This is less tedious ;)
