Backpacking since Christmas Day, 1989. Hitchhiking since mid 2010.

For the first time I managed to save enough travel funds in less than six months in Australia.

I've been hitchhiking around Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, and now Cambodia, and will continue hitchhiking around Asia for the next eight or nine months.

asked What does the flight jargon “fare class” actually mean? Is it the same as either “fare basis (code)” or “travel class”?

comment Can I convince embassies to accept my overpaid credit card as a proof of funds?
To extend a visa in Mexico they were always happy just for me to wave a credit card in front of them. But some rich countries will even scan your accounts to see if there were recent large deposits and if so they'll count that as suspicious like a family member is putting money in your account temporarily just so you can get the visa. So it depends a lot. I would expect US and EU to both be in the latter category.

comment Where might I observe refugees escaping across the North Korea-China or North Korea Russia border illegally?
I'm assuming there are no memorials in China. Probably not in Russia either. Possibly in South Korea, but nobody is making across that border as far as I know. My question was triggered by that question. I may not see people escaping but it would feel great to stand in the spot where many people fled despotism. I would feel terrible and helpless and want even more to find a way to bring and end to such evil.

comment Can tourists or other travellers in China get in trouble for using a VPN or other method to get around the “Great Firewall”?
@RussellMcMahon: In fact I'm really playing devil's advocate showing what a hardline approach to questions about illegal stuff could mean. Who knows what constitutes breaking the law in some place or other? Only lawyers and judges and juries from those places really. In the news just recently they've been closing down stuff related to firewall-escaping VPNs. Should I support this policy or ours? Not apply it to my own questions? Or just challenge it?

In any case well known answers don't need Stack Exchange questions.

I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because "we basically declared we wouldn't give advice on how to break the law."

comment Where might I observe people sneaking across the Vietnam-Cambodian border illegally?
I've decided to go ahead and play devil's advocate. If we're going hardline about this policy, add your closevotes to mine. If you decide it's not our job to be play cops and judges and juries then speak up against the policy and keep these questions and answers open and I'll stop looking for more to close in line with the policy.
