comment Has anyone been to the Hindenburg Crash Site?
To alleviate Karlson's concerns, just ask what the process for registering involves.

comment Bringing shoes back into Australia after visiting rural India
I believe they usually ask if you've been on a farm in the past N months. So just being somewhere rural is probably not the same thing. I can't remember how many N is though.

comment Secondhand/antique book shops in Lisbon
I have acquired more than my fair share of dictionaries on my travels too! I found Lisbon to be one of the easiest cities in Europe to find used book shops when I was there a good fourteen years ago just by randomly wandering around the central area pretty much. But the surprising thing for me was that even used books there were much more expensive than in most other countries.

comment Driving from UK to Turkey, is a French Schengen visa sufficient?
I've crossed the border from Turkey to Bulgaria with Turks (who spoke both languages) and the guards on the Bulgarian side gave them a lot of grief. I don't know how normal this is.

This technique works great for skidmarks but doesn't have much effect on "soaked with sweat".

@phoog: That depends on how damp they are, what the weather conditions are, what activity will be undertaken, how vigorous and long lasting that activity will be, and what material they are made from. If you're unlucky the result can be very uncomfortable chafing, which I've experienced many times as an international hitchhiker. The moral is if you forget to take enough pairs of undies, don't also forget to take talcum powder!
