Backpacking since Christmas Day, 1989. Hitchhiking since mid 2010.

I've just returned home after hitchhiking around Asia for the last 9.5 months.

comment Claim for Lost and then found baggage
Only ever in my hand luggage other than alcohol before liquids were restricted. Certainly never "mostly edible items". But whether I've done it or not surely doesn't affect the airlines' rules about it or their willingness to compensate if I were to break that rule.

comment How safe are the ferries in Indonesia?
If you're travelling with the aim of seeing rude ignorant Australians getting drunk and vomiting and offending the locals, you might not need to go anywhere besides Bali d-;

comment How safe are the ferries in Indonesia?
I don't think it's unreasonable to ask about the safety record of the ferries in a given country. The Philippines has a very scary record and South Korea has a scarily inconsistent record, for instance. If it's answerable for those countries it's answerable for arbitrary countries.

comment Claim for Lost and then found baggage
I don't think most airlines allow perishable food items in checked luggage.

"than" is for making comparisons. "then" is for sequence of events.

comment If a passenger damages another passenger's property (accidentally) on a flight, who is responsible?
Could the passenger in front not claim an expectation that seats recline at an acceptable velocity and that seats capable of reclining suddenly enough to damage something belonging to the person behind indicate fault on the part of the airline?

comment Applying for a B2 VISA after previous overstay as a child?
Very interesting. I've never heard of getting an old overstay waived. I have one from 1990 or 1991 that gets in the way a lot because I like Latin America and the cheapest flights there from Australia all go via USA and USA airports have no concept of transit and people with an overstay in their history need a visa no matter their nationality, even just to transit ...
