Japan's crumbling temples and shrines — How can I find them? Well there are many castles in Japan, quite different from European castles. Some are in perfect condition like in Osaka, and others might have just the large defensive walls or some other degree of ruins. I'm not sure if any are "crumbling" in the way you might expect in Egypt, Mexico, Cambodia, or even Albania. Here's the first site I find that looks like the right thing when I search for Japan castle ruins. |

Do you need to submit an itinerary to get a Chinese visa? And do you have to stick to it? That's interesting. I had a Catalan friend a few years ago who told me he travelled freely in the Tibetan areas which were not part of the "official Tibet" specifically to avoid having to obtain a special permit. Should I ask a question specifically about that? |

Japan's crumbling temples and shrines — How can I find them? @jake9115: Are you only interested in older/traditional religious ruins? Japan seems to have a good few ruined castles and lots of abandoned buildings from the 20th century. Are those within the scope of what you're looking for? |
