comment How the US verifies person's citizeship given that US passports are optional?
@CGCampbell: I'm pretty sure that's just to speed up the common case and there are fallback methods.

comment How to get rid of Argentinian Peso before leaving the country?
Umm... the official rate would be VERY GOOD if you want to change Pesos to Dollars. Which is why you won't get it anywhere, that's the whole point.

comment Is it rude to give up your seat in Japan?
@FranciscoPresencia: older women can be notoriously unabashed and might well do it, but what I was really thinking of is that someone else would call you out, thus taking the role of "enforcing social norms" (or maybe "educating the gaijin") rather than "requesting privilege".

@LightnessRacesinOrbit I believe the point (with which I somewhat agree) is that this kind of polite behaviour is pretty universal in modern societies and thus it doesn't really matter where the question or the answer is from. Only the details vary.

comment If you have a rental car from outside Germany, can you enter the environmental zones?
@andra: No, I'm saying that foreign rental agencies which allow their cars to be taken into Germany will provide such papers.
