comment Transiting in Kathmandu in aftermath of earthquake
I'm having trouble imagining why you cannot find an alternative to a connection in Kathmandu. Surely your final destination, whatever it is, has flights from other places? Why can't you just change to a flight that connects somewhere else instead? Odds are your airline will be happy to facilitate that, as they are likely to have trouble serving Kathmandu themselves.

It may depend on the nature of the summer school. Many such events do not award any academic credit and are really more in the nature of academic conferences, in which case a business visa might be appropriate.

comment Heathrow to Oxford without going through London
@GayotFow: Thanks, I will look into that. But in general I would rather take trains than buses, even if it requires another transfer.

Thanks, that is valuable information. How does it work specifically? Do the conductors just not check tickets until after leaving Terminals 1,2,3?

comment Why does a passport have a place of birth field on it?
@Ida: Interesting but doesn't quite fit the US case. The passport lists the state of birth, but birth records are kept by individual counties.

comment Can I go to Brazil from USA with a Colombian passport?
Independent of whether you can enter Brazil with a Colombian passport, if you don't have a US passport, you may have problems trying to return to the US. See travel.stackexchange.com/a/40624/1362.

comment What is the best way to get Mexican Pesos from Canadian Dollars?
I'm not sure I see the point of collecting exchange rates in this answer. They change so quickly that they will be useless to anyone else who reads this.

comment Why do return flight costs vary depending on the country of origin?
I'm not sure that what you heard was correct. I recently booked a round-trip flight from the US to London. The total fare was about $1500. The receipt listed the included US taxes and fees, and they totaled $63.

comment Passport information needed when booking an international flight
For example, those are part of the APIS data which airlines are required to collect from all passengers bound for the US.

As a more distant option, San Francisco's MUNI system operates articulated buses. I'm sure there are many many more.
