comment Can I fly from US to Spain with 30 new watches in my luggage?
Perhaps you should take some tips from this guy.

comment London public transport: Is it possible to buy a paper ticket for a single journey?
If you have a contactless credit card, you can simply use that instead of an Oyster card.

comment Flying to the Philipines from Saudi Arabia with several electronic devices
It is also worth noting that airlines often exclude valuable items like electronics from checked luggage liability. If you put the electronics in your checked bag and it is lost, stolen, or damaged, the airline will not pay for them. You might want to look for travel insurance that covers valuables in luggage.

comment ESTA, Visa, USA, Overstay, Help please!
@Hanky: It says there that extensions are granted only for emergencies. If the OP's reason for wanting to overstay is not, in fact, an emergency, applying for an extension would seem to be a waste of time, at best.

comment ESTA, Visa, USA, Overstay, Help please!
So those extra 7 days are so important that you'd consider breaking the law (and risking your future ability to visit the US) rather than simply alter your travel plans to leave earlier?

I guess you'd also have to find out how to get it registered in Europe.

comment Hostel wants my Credit Card security code via email, is this legit?
Asking for the CVV is one thing. Asking for it to be sent by unencrypted email is quite another. The credit card industry has strict rules as to how credit card numbers and CVVs are to be handled (look up PCI DSS) and I would strongly doubt that collecting CVVs by email is compliant. It may not be a scam, but it's certainly sloppy and risky.

comment Why do hostels require you to 'rent' bedding?
Are there hostels which rent bedding and also forbid sleeping bags? And I'm not claiming the base price went down - I'm saying it might otherwise have gone up (by more).

comment Why do hostels require you to 'rent' bedding?
@insidein: A significant number of hostel customers are backpackers who carry their own sleeping bags. They do not need bedding and would be happy to go without it for a lower price. Of course, you can carry your own sleeping bag too, if you don't want to rent bedding. Similarly, if you don't want to pay for a meal on an airplane, it doesn't mean you have to starve: it just means you have to bring your own food.

comment Will Amtrak honor a saver ticket from an earlier station when other saver tickets are sold out?
I don't know about Amtrak specifically, but it seems logical that if you change your ticket, you will be charged any difference in fare between what you paid, and the current price of the new itinerary.

comment Why do hostels require you to 'rent' bedding?
Is this really a question, or just a complaint? It's just an a la carte pricing model - they're very common. Why do airlines charge extra to check bags? Why does McDonald's charge extra for fries?

comment Are British immigration officers permitted to require evidence of a relationship between passengers and their children?
I edited the title to be more specific and less unintentionally provocative. It may be a bit long now, so feel free to change it to something else. Also, the usual practice on SE is to use sentence case in titles (capitalizing the first word only).

comment Are British immigration officers permitted to require evidence of a relationship between passengers and their children?
It would seem to be in the spirit of these treaties for a state to take steps to try to prevent such abductions from happening in the first place, and checking birth certificates would seem like a reasonable step in this direction. I haven't yet found such a requirement in the text itself, but I have not read it carefully.

Possibly relevant are the 1980 Hague Convention on Child Abduction and the 1996 Hague Convention on the Protection of Children. The UK is party to both. They deal with procedures for the return of children who have been taken across international borders by non-custodial parents....

comment Do we need US Visa for our 2 hours layover flight to the US from Canada to the Philippines?
What is your citizenship? As far as I know, the length of the layover makes no difference. If you would need a visa to enter the US, you need a visa to transit, period.

comment Is NEXUS clearly better than Global Entry or TSA Pre-Check for US citizens?
@Michael: My main interest is in access to TSA Pre Check. It seems like NEXUS offers this at lower cost than TSA's own program.

comment Is NEXUS clearly better than Global Entry or TSA Pre-Check for US citizens?
@Kate: That's the sort of thing I wanted to know. I know it isn't automatic approval, but I didn't know the approval criteria were different. Post an answer?
