comment What is the most cost effective way to get turn-by-turn navigation in the UK?
@Kami We just go cheap and nasty, so some kind of mini-hatchback which will almost definitely not have GPS. :)

Given I'm still interested in the actual answer to this question but this discussion is interesting in its own right, I've opened a more general question on this discussion.

comment Are there “Doctor Who” themed tourist attractions in the UK?
They redid it recently to incorporate a lot more I believe. We were last there before the reconstruction, though we actually stumbled across it by accident as huge (new) Dr Who fans and enjoyed ourselves. It definitely deserved to be bigger and better.

comment How to find out which way airliners bank on takeoff and landing
Seconding this. I fly into and out of Sydney a lot. In general you will take off out over the ocean, but unless you are on an A380 which is limited to a specific runway, landing varies depending on conditions - it's split between from the sea (east), over the nearby suburbs (west) or over the northern suburbs and inner city (north).

comment Insurance for travel to the USA while pregnant
@DumbCoder You're generally fine until after 28 weeks, which suggests no worries here - five weeks plus the eight or nine in the USA leaves her at 14 or 15 weeks, months short of when the airlines start getting concerned.

People won't be able to provide information on companies, etc, unless you provide where you will be buying the insurance from. Even then, that section may be a bit broad.

comment When do pedestrians have right of way in Australia?
Almost everyone will stop for a zebra crossing. Most will stop and wait for pedestrians to cross at lights or a crossing instead of trying just to swerve around them. A majority will wave you across if you're on a small street with a traffic island. Other than that they probably won't specifically stop to let you cross because the traffic is either too fast or not enough traffic to bother you.
