comment Is it rude to tell the ice cream man in Istanbul not to mess with me?
Yeah no he's not. It's part of the show. You can choose to buy from another vendor (if there is one), or don't buy ice-cream, or use suggestion from my answer above.

What's your citizenship? What do you mean by bad history?

comment Safety in Bangkok
Welcome! You're relatively new, so I suggest checking out the help center, where you'll note subjective questions are generally off-topic, and you're expected to ask generally just one question per post. Possibly you could edit this after reading it, as in its current state it's likely to get closed.

comment Can we bring lavender wands from the US to the UK and back again?
@drat yes I'm agreeing with you, it's unclear as to what they mean - that's why mine was worded a bit like a question too :)

comment What to do if drugs / a bomb are planted in your travel bag?
@Michael depends in the country, but in say, Australia, NZ for example (the two I'll be in this week) you definitely have to, either a cursory customs check or a full x-ray scan of your bags or even a full search (I hate those ones). It's customs though, so it's less a security (eg check for bombs) and more a check of your posessions.

Sounds interesting. How did you sneak into Canada?

Sounds like they just want to keep them on them, for the duration of the trip?

comment Are there any laws that prohibit trading on the airplane?
This would be part of the shadow economy. There is a great Freakonomics podcast from 3 years ago this week which covers this topic indepth.

comment Tour operators in Madagascar
Welcome! I recommend a read of the help center as generally asking for tour recommendations is off-topic here. You could check in the Travel Chat but yeah subjective questions tend to get closed.

@Michael er, yes, which is what is described in the question. Arrive at destination, pick up bag.

comment How to change some details on the passport application AFTER it got submitted?
"could not get the right advice" - seems vague. Did they tell her what to do or not?

comment Can I bring a beach sand to the US as a souvenir?
I maintain it is the same as the other question - it doesn't matter whether it's in carry on or not really, it's about customs which both your checked and carry on luggage go through

comment Practicing Mongolian pronunciation before visiting Mongolia
Indeed, but at some point there's a boundary. It's a case of working out where that is :/

comment Practicing Mongolian pronunciation before visiting Mongolia
@Karlson yeah, but if you asked 'where in Sydney can I learn to swim before visiting Iceland' - it's not about the travel, it's about swimming lessons, that just happen to be before a holiday. Where can I get a job before my holiday? Where can I buy a Sydney bus ticket before my holiday etc. I can see why it was asked here, but I think we need to be careful about these edge cases.

comment Can I enter Canada with previous entry denial into another country?
@Dorian - suggestion, Google Translate in your phone (if you don't have it, find someone who does) now handles on-the-fly translation of Thai writing. So that may well help give you a rough translation and perhaps the reason for denial.

comment Air travel with white powder in little transparent bag
@helm yeah, I travel with a lot of medicines, and always just declare them (often as 'drugs' which gets attention!). 95% of the time they don't even want to look at them, they're happy to just wave me through.

comment Can I enter Canada with previous entry denial into another country?
@Dorian same applies. Be open and honest about your reasons, explain everything clearly in a letter if possible. Unanswered questions or unexplained stuff raises more concerns than something you can explain.

comment Best traveling destination
Everyone has a different opinion on this, and best? Cheapest? Most stuff? It's really not answerable. I highly recommend looking at our help center and noting that subjective questions are off-topic. Thanks!

comment Can I enter Canada with previous entry denial into another country?
In that case, say that, and if possible, just include copies of the denial (if they ask about non-Canadian denials). If they really want, they'll translate them themselves, and your openness will look good, hopefully.
