comment Is there a map showing alternatives to London airports?
Gatwick is on the trainline south, so you're going to hardpressed to beat it, it's also very accessible from central London. LCY and LHR too aren't actually that bad if taking hte tube. LTN and STN though...(shudders)

Side note - yes, they get very annoyed / angry if you even point a camera at a military person / police. Locals don't care or are interested that you're interested, but police ... best to talk to them first, then ask.

comment Two possible itineraries on the Silk Road
@DanielRobert-Nicoud I think so personally, although I've not really seen much of China, and do wish to return, I feel seeing Uzbekistan now before it becomes touristy was worth every minute.

comment Two possible itineraries on the Silk Road
I went through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, then flew to Kyrgyzstan instead of doing the rest of the Pamir (I went up the M41 to Khorog) as I ... ran out of medicine. Then up to Siberia and across to Mongolia. Highly recommend - Uzbekistan will be the tourist mecca in a few years when people realise just how incredible it is, seriously. And I loved the food in Kyrgyzstan, and you can't not gape at the mountains in every direction in Tajikistan.

comment Are there any airlines that still allow smoking on-board flights?
@Arashsoft yes, not by me - it was updated to provide a historical copy of the chart. I agree about accuracy, and you're welcome to update answers, but commenting isn't always as helpful, as they get lost in the noise sometimes :(

comment Could a ticket from London to Cape Town cost the same in 2016 as it did in 1976?
Also it's well documented that ticket prices have dropped over time - prices often haven't moved in a long, long time. (eg theatlantic.com/business/archive/2013/02/…)

Your ticket allows you 30kg, you have 15kg? What's the problem?

@alengel - is it the ATM charging, or your foreign bank charging for an overseas transaction?

comment Are there any do-it-yourself penguin sighting tours on Phillip Island, Australia?
End of St Kilda Pier, in Melbourne, about 30 min after sunset (behind the building). Free penguin sightings :) Maybe not as many, but they're certainly there.

I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because it's about medical culture, not travel.
