Most reputable car hire companies will let you pick up from the airport, although I'm not exactly sure where the pickup point is as I live in Sydney and have never needed to do this. It is absolutely unnecessary to head into the city center from the airport, so just forget about that. From the airport you're pretty much heading in the opposite direction ...

Yes, at T1 (International Terminal) and T2 (Domestic Terminal). I was there in 2011 but can't remember the details (except that I did use internet connection at the airport). Anyway, Foursquare is a good memory aid, and several tips from 2011 and 2012 say there's indeed wifi available. February 10, 2012: Free wifi all over with the "FREE WIFI BY ...

Check out a rental company called Bayswater Car Rental. From working years in a hostel in Sydney I can say we only ever had good reports about this rental company, though I never rented from them myself. They're a smaller outfit only in Sydney and Perth but with all new cars and they cut out a lot of crap fees most rental companies charge. They do not have ...

Downtown Sydney is a nightmare in a car, particular in the morning in downtown. Not just because of the horrible traffic, but also because of the parking situation and all the one-way-streets, so you're more busy finding your way around the maze than getting from A to B. I would avoid the downtown area at all costs and try to pick up a car from the Airport ...

Getting from the airport to the city centre on the train is very easy, but it isn't very cheap. The airport rail link is quite new, and there's an extra fee for using the airport stations. As such, an adult single ticket from the airport to the city circle (the main city centre stations) is $15. If you have a MyMulti pass (city wide public transport ticket), ...

I'm a Kiwi too, and I assure you, you're totally fine to leave the airport. Evidence? Just 6 weeks ago I was flying through Sydney enroute back to NZ, and had 10 or so hours to kill. I caught the train into town, met up with a couple of friends for lunch and wandered around a bit, and then headed back to the airport. I didn't even need to collect my ...

Based on Jonik's answer, I went and did some more googling. I eventually found a Free Wifi page on the airport website Free Wi-Fi is available throughout International Terminal (T1) and Domestic Terminal (T2). Sydney Airport now provides free Wi-Fi for all travellers at both the Domestic (T2) and International (T1) Terminals. You can use any Wi-Fi ...

I don't see a need to travel into the city. You can easily get a car from Sydney Airport or from Sydney central or Sydney downtown. There are many more locations as well but no need to go there as this service can be provided at the airport only. If you head downtown then you would just get stuck in the traffic that also in rush hours of morning. You can ...
