Having been to the Death Road in Bolivia, I can confirm it looks quite different to this. This video would actually appear to be in the Himalayas, believed to be between Killar and Kishtwar in northern India, above the Chenab river. Source with more pictures, and detail.

First of all, Taiga is very big thing, so address in the Taiga isn't much helpful for you :) Secondary, my apologies about some information is only in Russian, especially maps. The Curch of the Last Testament has their village in the Krasnoyarsk Krai. Their site is very old, and the only thing working there is the main page. Also they have international ...

In August most roads should be open. The condition of any given road can never be guaranteed though. You should consult the website of the Icelandic Road Administration for up to date information about what roads are closed. If you click on the Condition of Mountain tracks you'll see the current state. Most roads are open by now, but its been a cold summer ...

Without specific permission from a land owner the only type of trail you can use is a Byway. These are strictly speaking roads, but tend to be used primarily for recreation by the public, and are generally maintained as farm tracks. Some are designated as a restricted byway that do not allow powered vehicles. Byways are shown on Ordnance Survey Explorer ...

It all depends on where you want to go. At any time of year, Landmannalaugar would call for something more substantial than a "small compact". Even a small 4x4 (i.e. a normal sedan with four wheel drive) could get into trouble, you'd really want something with extra ground clearance. Most of the other destinations you mention are easily accessible most of ...

The northern most road would be the Dalton Highway which ends in DeadHorse and extends to Prudhoe Bay. The northernmost road in Canada is Dempster Highway, which ends a couple of degrees of latitude south of the Dalton in Inuvik, so that would be the northernmost you can get on existing roads. It is also possible that you might be able to travel on Ice ...

I live in Alaska and have been wanting to do this exact segment of a trip as well for the same reasons. I have friends who have decades of experience working for the oil companies on the Slope and Prudhoe Bay. The journey by any sort of 4x4 vehicle is impossible for two reasons: The area is part of the oil fields and is secured. Company security will ...

Unfortunately, according to Wikitravel's entry: With the exception of an annual summer barge service, Barrow is a fly-in-only city. The airport, Wiley-Post Will Rogers Memorial Airport, is located directly south of the city. So looks like the ship you mention in summer is the only non-air way of getting in. Unless you go extreme 4WD, like the Top ...

EDIT: I am a bit surprised that offroad parks here are relatively scarce, but on the other hand Germany is very densely populated with not so much ample room for activities. There you go: Hessen, Knüllwald http://www.offroadpark-knuellwald.de/index.php Berlin, Jänschwalde ...

OpenStreetMap is pretty complete in Europe (at least in the parts I'm familiar with), even when it comes to footpaths. It can be downloaded freely (there are smartphone apps to download the data and browse the map offline). However, as an aid to hiking, it's lacks critical information for many locations. In particular, there's no elevation. There's no ...

OK, no ATVs. How about the other side of the spectrum, tanks? A place where you can drive Panzer has been in the news a couple of times. It is close to Berlin. I believe it must be Panzerkutscher. They have a big terrain, some old cars (to crush), and various tanks at the disposal of any paying customer above the age of 16 years. You can drive, take repair ...

I found two rental companies apparently located in San José, Costa Rica: Wild Rider (US$55-80 per day, minimum 3 days) Costa Rica Motorcycle Tours (US$90-145 per day) Prices as of April 5, 2012.

What I found at Wadi Rum was that since it's a protected area where only the Bedouin can live, the only way in is to sign on to one of the tours. Most of these camps and tours are owned and organised by the Bedouins themselves. Prices are very standardised because it's regulated by the government, and since the only way in is a tour, you might as well book ...

"Silk Road" is not the name of one road, but the name of a trade route. The exact course of the route has changed throughout the last millenia, there has always been many alternatives and the map you're posting shows only some of the roads actually used. Marco Polo's route is pretty well known, but his land route does not seem to correspond well to the map ...

I don't think there is any legal issue with having no driver/guide as I know it is a popular place for Motorcyclists thanks to The Long Way Round. The Mongol Rally also travels there from London and it doesn't require any driver or guides for that section. Here is a Link to the Lonely Planet Guide on traveling in Mongolia ...

Just as an update... We did eventually hire a Chevrolet Captiva 4x4, which was a great car to drive around. We didn't actually make it onto the F roads, but ended up having to drive on gravel tracks, which were probably pretty much the same. The only problem we had, was that this car which is a 4x4, aka all-wheel-drive, got stuck drive through some mud. ...

You can consider Private Tour from Viator You can also consider the following WadiRumTours Site as it has multiple options for Wadi Rum Tours on a 4x4 including full day and part of the day tours. This one should work as well.
