Mongolia is a land-locked country in Central and Eastern Asia. Is is bordered by China and Russia. Mongolia is very sparsely populated. Nearly half of the population is living in the capital Ulan-Bator. Much of the country is covered by steppe. Mongolia is crossed by one of the so-called Trans-Siberian train routes.
