With the number of websites and services providing travel advice, information, and deals, there are a lot of resources for someone to find and book their own travel plans. For plane tickets (or other travel details), what are the advantages of using a travel agent? When should someone think about finding and using a travel agent instead of booking tickets themselves online?

@VMAtm: I didn't have a destination in mind. I was just wondering what services travel agents provide that can't be easily accomplished by booking travel arrangements online yourself. – jrdioko Jul 15 '11 at 4:20
