So haven't decided 100% which countries I'm going to but preliminary plan is Vietnam, Cambodia and either Thailand or Malaysia. Going to be travelling for at least three months but probably longer if I can afford it.

Also any help on the subject of visas would be appreciated.

I recommend Bali. However it seems that your question is not specific enough. Budget is really a subjective matter and really depends on where you stay, what you eat and what you do. – Rudy Apr 30 '12 at 21:57
'Budget' is quite broad. Could you possibly say whether your goal is to get to all the countries, or just 3 months travel and you have $x and want to see as much as possible? Some people on here travel luxury, others cling to the bottom of buses and camp with wolves if it'll save them a couple of bucks, so it's quite a broad question. Fantastic area of the world, and we'll be happy to help answer, but if you could edit your question to be more specific and provide as much detail as you can (where you flying into etc), you'll get far better responses. – Mark Mayo Apr 30 '12 at 23:06
