This question already has an answer here:

I was looking for a flight from Mumbai to Gainesville between 15-18th of August when I found the prices of same flights for next week (11-19 July) were quite cheaper than that. About Rs.10,000-15,000 cheaper. Does it always happen? Like the price gets down few weeks before the flight? And just want to know whether I should wait for my VISA to get cleared and buy the ticket one or two weeks before or book a refundable ticket now?

I can't comment exactly on this journey, but in the UK flights increase considerably during the school holidays. For example, I am going to Japan next week, but if I went a week later the flights were over £200 more per person. This is because a lot of schools in the country go on their summer holidays so it becomes a "peak" travel period.

Would this have anything to do with it? I don't know when Indian schools go on their holidays, but might be one explanation.
