Travel Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for road warriors and seasoned travelers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I start to make some plans about my future. I'll begin to save some money until my 21th birthday (from now on, 2 and a half year). After that, I'll quit my job and want to travel the world. Maybe for one or two years. I'll see.

Until today, I always travelled with some friends or my parents for maximum 3 weeks, just in Europe.
Now I want to discover the whole world.

So I want to ask all of you, who already were around the world. Do you travelled by your own or with some friends or with strangers? I heard of some websites where you can find other people who maybe want to do the same trip.

I'm not sure how I should start planning. A trip lets say for a month, there is no problem to travel alone. But when I'll travel the world, it could be I'm getting a little bit lonely. Or? But to find a friend or also a stranger (or more than one) for a such long world trip with the same interests like me, it is nearly impossible, I think.

What are your thougths? What are your expiriences?

Welcome to the site, dtDesign. You are here to make a decision and a plan, which is great, but it's too big a question to ask as a single question. The site can help you to learn all that you need to know to make this decision, but you will need to ask a number of smaller, answerable questions to get there. (You will probably also read lots of questions and answers from other people that will help.) In the meantime I think this question isn't well formed for the site, but I encourage you to ask smaller more specific questions that everyone could answer. –  Kate Gregory Dec 5 '13 at 14:59

@KateGregory: Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry if I don't fit the site. I just googled around and found this question, which is about to make some money while travelling. It is a high rated question and has also multiple questions in it. I don't like users which ask several question in a short time, and it also will be prevent from stackexchange (expiriences from stackoverflow). I'll try to cut my question to my most important things. –  dTDesign Dec 5 '13 at 15:04

I suggest you ask several separate questions, spread over a little time as you're learning. You're concerned about loneliness, about finding people to travel with, about resources for trip planning, about one long trip or several small ones, and so on. Try to break it down into a fact you want to learn. When you have the dozens of facts you need, your decision and plan will be easy and this site will have dozens more useful questions (and answers to them) that it didn't have before. –  Kate Gregory Dec 5 '13 at 15:07

This seems to be about chatting and polling, I can't see how it could have "one right answer". You can try joining our chat room, or a similar site without these kinds of rules you can try is called Quora. Or maybe just a travel forum like Lonely Planet Thorn Tree ... –  hippietrail Dec 5 '13 at 15:09
