Many UK insurers provide policies not only to UK residents but all EU residents - most often a better deal than available in your country; if you speak English.
I know this is not the place for specific recommendations so that's why I asked how to choose one?
Besides the usual suspects (trustworthy company in good financial shape, good customer service) I am especially looking for the following:
- Travel disruption (the rare case of volcanic ashes or the more common simple bad weather, strikes, etc)
- Change in the airline schedule, canceled flight because of poor bookings
- Missed departure (because of the break down of public transport Special note: which insurers count another airline as public transport? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/columnists/gillcharlton/8608939/Travel-advice-who-pays-for-missed-connection.html
From the above link: we not only want to self-connect flight from the UK or EU but for example intra-Asian airlines as well such as Air Asia
My candidate doesn't have to be based in the UK but it is highly likely. The question is, how to start the research between countries? The EU is a single market!
