A friend of mine and myself will be in San Francisco this summer. It is our first time traveling to the US and we want to make sure we can make the best out of it.

We are especially interested in the wildlife, landscape and national parks. Do you guys have any hints what we definitely have to do or visit there or around the area of San Francisco?

P.S. We are from Munich, Germany. (Just some background information if it helps)

Gold Gate Bridge. MUST see the bridge (hard to miss). Trip over it and stop in car park and marvel at cables. | Peer out at Alcatraz while you are there . | IF into hippie nostalgia, stop a moment at Hayte-Ashbury (now a tidy trendy uppish market shopping street).| xxx street - among the steepest in the world (we have slightly steeper here in NZ). | If none of these answers thrill you it will be a good introduction to why this sort of question is usually disallowed :-) - preferences vary. –  Russell McMahon May 28 '13 at 13:56
@RussellMcMahon what do you mean by xxx street? –  NARKOZ Dec 7 '13 at 18:57
@Narkoz - I meant that the name did not come to mind and/but that everyone in San Francisco will know it if you as for the famous steepest street. ... Googles ... ah yes, Lombard Street. The steeper one in NZ is Baldwin Street. –  Russell McMahon Dec 8 '13 at 11:06
Images of Baldwin Street in Dunedin NZ - scary to drive UP it (speaking from experience :-). –  Russell McMahon Dec 8 '13 at 11:07
