I am in bit of a situation. I am flying from Melbourne Aus to Fayetteville NC during December and returning January.

i have been monitoring the sites for weeks now. I have my dates I want/need to travel on to attend family events. The lowest i can find resturn is $1994 AUD, I am not sure if i should wait to see if the prices go down or what. So my question is, should i book my tickets (my dates are 7/12/13 to 30/01/14) now or wait and see if they change?

also i know some companies do the return from melbourne to los angeles for $999, but i don't know if they do them for the holiday season? does anyone if and when those sort of deals are released.

Any advice will be great!

Welcome to the site. Unfortunately you're polling for opinion, and that's against the terms listed in the faq. As a result, unless you reword it and flag to reopen, the question is being closed. What I can suggest is trying the route on kayak.com - they have a price guide on the left which tells you if prices are predicted to go up or down, which may help. You could also read Do I buy tickets two weeks before even during the holiday season? or hop into the Travel Chat for help :) – Mark Mayo Mar 13 at 5:12
Another quote you often hear is "if the price is one you're ok with paying, buy it now, rather than waiting for it to go up". Many times I'd say wait as airlines release deals closer to the time than now, but Christmas/New Years all bets are off. – Mark Mayo Mar 13 at 5:13
