Has anyone have any experience with camping in Chile?

Right now we are in New Zealand, where camping is quite normal. In March we will take a flight to Santiago, but we're not sure to bring the tent (including stuff like mats and sort) with us or to sell it. With camping I mean regular campsites, but also the possibility to freedom camp.

Currently your question is vague. What are you actually asking? Does anyone have experience = yes. But what is it that you want to know? Are you wondering if you can buy tents? Or biosecurity questions? Please edit your question and flag it to reopen - in its current form it doesn't meet the rules in the faq.
