Beside reading a book, checking emails and listening to music, how can I make full use of my traveling time wisely when traveling for long hours?

I really getting sick wasting a lot of time on traveling looking out the windows, be it on a bus, train or plane. As you know, major cities have too many traffic jams and it really spoiled the enjoyment traveling around the world, be it for work or for enjoyment.

List of things to do while traveling:

  • Reading a book
  • Checking emails
  • Listening to music
  • Taking photo / video of the surrounding
  • Chatting with other passengers
  • Having a short snack
  • Taking a short nap
  • Watching movies
  • Stretching (sitting too long is bad.)
  • Playing video games
  • Planning and scheduling your work or your travel destination
  • Others ....

I'm afraid this is going to really subjective, and Stack Exchange is specifically designed for objective questions. For instance I could suggest you study the local/destination language while about but that might not be your cup of tea. Everybody would have their own idea and there would be no "one right answer". –  hippietrail Nov 6 '12 at 3:32
@hippietrail, actually, I am looking for a answer that cover as much activities that I can do while traveling. I believe that there are people out there that travel quite a lot and have create many ways to counter the wastage of time while traveling. –  Jack Nov 6 '12 at 4:44

This could be a good question, if edited a bit, but I am afraid list questions are already not allowed? –  crenate Nov 6 '12 at 14:16
@mithy: Actually we looked into the "list question" policy recently and they're not necessarily bad, just that usually do break one or more of the other rules, such as the objectivity one. –  hippietrail Nov 9 '12 at 8:44
